Torn between Juvelook vs Sculptra because both promise your own collagen, and you have one trip to Seoul to choose in?
Give this seven minutes before you let the price of a syringe make the decision for you.
By the end you will know how each one builds, how many sessions and how far apart, the downtime, what each costs on our list, who suits which, and when the two are combined.
Hello, I'm Dr. Jang Dong-hoon, Founder & Medical Director of THE Beautiful Clinic in Seoul. Both products are on our list, a 3D Meta-Vu scan comes before any recommendation, and the doctor who examines you plans and treats you, and nobody sells you a package to be done by someone you never met.
I wrote this because the two are often presented as a cheaper and a dearer version of the same thing. Their materials are related, but they are placed at different depths and answer different problems.
The short answer: Juvelook is the closer fit when the problem sits in the skin itself, such as shallow scars, stretched pores, fine lines or a mild hollow. Sculptra is the closer fit when volume has gone from a wider area deeper down, such as the temples or mid-cheeks, and you can wait months for it to show. Results vary, and some faces need neither.
Juvelook vs Sculptra: the question that decides it
The deciding question is not which product is stronger. It is where the loss sits: in the skin, or in the volume under it. Each collagen stimulator is built for one of those layers.
| Juvelook | Sculptra | |
|---|---|---|
| Made of | PLA polymer with hyaluronic acid | Poly-L-lactic acid |
| Where it is placed | The dermis | Deep dermis and subcutis |
| Usually chosen for | Shallow scars, pores, fine lines, mild hollows | Wider volume loss in the temples and cheeks |
| Typically lasts | 12–18 months | Up to around 2 years |
| Priced by | The cc, per session | The vial |
The research papers call Juvelook's polymer PDLLA, poly-D,L-lactic acid, and Sculptra's PLLA. The names differ by one letter, and the behaviour differs more than that.
How each one builds collagen, and how fast
Neither works like a gel filler. Both leave particles that your tissue slowly breaks down, and the collagen laid down around them is what stays. That is why nothing dramatic happens on the day with either.
Juvelook adds hyaluronic acid, which holds water in the dermis early on while the polymer starts its slower work. On our list the change builds over weeks, and because the result is tissue you have grown, over-correction is less likely than with a same-day filler.
Sculptra sits deeper and works on a longer clock. Lost volume returns gradually over months, which is why the change is hard to date. A 2024 systematic review of eleven randomised trials found effects that held for at least 25 months in some studies, and still rated the overall evidence as low quality.
The particles also behave differently. A 2026 laboratory and mouse study measured PLLA particles at a median of about 49 micrometres and PDLLA at about 20, and found the PDLLA particles clumped more in saline. That was in mice, so it tells you why depth and dilution matter, not what will happen in your face.

Sessions, spacing and combining the two
Both are courses rather than single visits, and the number of sessions is agreed at consultation for your face. Our price list quotes each one per session or per vial, so a course is charged at the single-session rate.
For spacing, the clearest data point is a 2026 split-face trial. Thirty-three people had a PDLLA product with hyaluronic acid on one nasolabial fold and PLLA on the other, three injections four weeks apart. Both improved the fold, and the PDLLA product was judged not inferior to PLLA at 24 weeks.
- One trip only: a first session of either, with the decision about the next one made from how your skin responds.
- Two or more trips: a course spaced around flights you are already taking, planned before the first session, not after.
- Both products: possible when the skin and the volume both need work, with the order and areas set after the scan.
Combining them does not change the listed price of either. The rule we keep is patience: adding more product before the last session has had time to show is how over-correction happens.
When Juvelook is the better fit
Juvelook works where the complaint is something you can feel with a fingertip. It is also the lighter commitment on a first trip, with small bumps for 1–2 days and a 2cc entry point.
- Shallow, rolling acne scars, with subcision first if they are tethered.
- Pores that look stretched, and uneven texture.
- Fine lines and a mild hollow in skin that has started to thin.
- A first collagen stimulator, when you would rather start small and judge the result.
If thin, tired skin is the main issue rather than texture, Juvelook vs Rejuran sorts that question. The full Juvelook price list and what changes it is in our Juvelook Korea guide.
When Sculptra is the better fit
Sculptra suits a face that has lost volume over a wider area and a person who can wait for it to return. Temples that have flattened, mid-cheeks that have deflated after weight loss, skin that looks thin over bone: these are Sculptra questions more than Juvelook ones.
It asks more of your calendar. Swelling lasts 1–3 days, the visible change comes over months, and you will fly home long before the collagen has finished arriving. If you can come back, it is easier to recommend. If not, a single session is a beginning, and I will say so before you pay for it.
How a vial count is set, and how Sculptra compares with Radiesse for support you can see sooner, are covered in the Sculptra price guide and Sculptra vs Radiesse in Seoul.
Cost and downtime side by side
Juvelook is priced by the cc and Sculptra by the vial, so the two figures are not a like-for-like comparison. What you pay follows how much product your face needs and how many sessions.
| Item | Price (KRW) | Listed downtime |
|---|---|---|
| Juvelook + subcision (if needed, by hand), 2cc, 1 session | 240,000 | Small bumps, 1–2 days |
| Juvelook + subcision (if needed, by hand), 4cc, 1 session | 480,000 | Small bumps, 1–2 days |
| Sculptra, 1 vial | 750,000 | Swelling, 1–3 days |
| Sculptra, 3 vials | 2,090,000 | Swelling, 1–3 days |
Prices are from the list of 20 August 2026 and exclude 10% VAT. The final figure is confirmed at consultation, after the 3D Meta-Vu scan and before anything is started.
Juvelook can also be done with Dermashine, which adds a tip quoted at consultation. Both are injected under a topical anaesthetic, and the sensation is moderate. Boosters and injectables can usually be done straight after the consultation, so put either one early in your stay.

When we recommend neither, and who should ask first
The limit comes first: a Juvelook vs Sculptra choice assumes a collagen stimulator is the right tool at all, and often it is not. Sagging from tissue that has dropped is a lifting question, covered in lifting a face without surgery.
- You want visible volume this week: contour filler works on the day it is placed.
- Lips, nose or under the eyes: small, precise areas are usually handled with hyaluronic acid filler, which can be dissolved. Neither PLLA nor PDLLA can.
- Active acne, a cold sore or infection in the area: treatment waits until it has settled.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding: wait.
Tell us your medical history in consultation, including recent fillers or threads, isotretinoin, medication that affects healing, and any history of keloids. The FDA lists lumps, infection and injury to a blood vessel among the known risks of injectable fillers, and the systematic review recorded bruising, tenderness, swelling and nodules.
A lump weeks later happens at home, so keep the product name, amount and areas in writing, and use the same WhatsApp thread after you fly home; replies come within 24 business hours. Sudden pain, pale or dusky skin, or a change in vision needs urgent care where you are.
When your dates are set, tick Juvelook or Sculptra in the booking selector and send the list. If this is your first treatment in Seoul, what patients ask before they come covers the practical side, and clinic staff interpret at no charge, arranged for your appointment time.
