Ultracol is a collagen stimulator made of PDO microspheres: tiny spheres of polydioxanone, the absorbable material used in surgical sutures for three decades. It adds little volume on the day. The particles sit in the skin while it builds its own collagen, then break down into water and carbon dioxide.
I am an Ultracol Key Doctor, appointed by its manufacturer LYV Sciences, so I am not neutral about this product: read this guide with that in mind, and ask me why a plan uses it. This guide gives the price on our list, the difference between Ultracol 100 and Ultracol 200, how it sits next to Sculptra and Juvelook, and how to plan it around a trip to Seoul.
Ultracol price in Seoul
Our list prices Ultracol by the vial, and the same line covers both versions.
| Item | Unit | Price (KRW) |
|---|---|---|
| Ultracol 100 or Ultracol 200 | 1 vial (4cc) | 690,000 |
| Minimum per treatment | 2cc | Confirmed at consultation |
A treatment uses at least 2cc, so ask what your plan uses before you compare quotes: a figure for 2cc and a figure for a full vial are not the same offer. The final number is confirmed at consultation, after the 3D skin scan and before anything is started. Prices exclude 10% VAT, and the cosmetic VAT refund for foreign visitors ended at the start of 2026, so no refund applies.
What Ultracol is: PDO microspheres, not a gel filler
A hyaluronic acid filler lifts a fold by the volume of its gel. Ultracol works the other way. Its PDO microspheres are placed in or just under the dermis, the skin's fibroblasts respond to them, and new collagen forms around them over the following weeks. There is no crosslinker in the product, because there is no gel to hold together.
In Korea, Ultracol is a Class IV medical device approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), and its approved indication is the temporary improvement of the nasolabial folds. It also carries CE marking under the EU Medical Device Regulation. Where it is used beyond the nasolabial folds, that is the doctor's judgement for your face, which is a question for the consultation.
The manufacturer states that the particles break down fully into water and carbon dioxide within 4 to 6 months. The collagen they prompted stays after the particles are gone, which is why the result is described as lasting around 12 months on our treatment page.
The independent evidence is still early. A 2026 split-face study of 31 people in the journal In Vivo, co-authored by the manufacturer's researchers, compared PDO microspheres with a hyaluronic acid filler, a PDLLA product and a polynucleotide product, and measured better texture and volume scores on the PDO side at eight weeks. It is small, short and company-sponsored, and an earlier Ultracol 200 study was retracted in 2025, so read results claims, including ours, with that in mind.
Ultracol 100 vs Ultracol 200
The two versions differ in particle size, and particle size decides how deep the product goes and what it is for. The figures below are the manufacturer's.
| Ultracol 100 | Ultracol 200 | |
|---|---|---|
| Particle size | 20–50 µm | 50–110 µm |
| Delivered with | A fine 27–31G needle or cannula | A 21–23G cannula |
| Placed in | The mid to deep dermis | The upper layer under the skin |
| Aimed at | Skin quality: texture, fine lines, firmness | Contour: folds, hollows, the jawline |
Put simply, Ultracol 100 is for the quality of the skin and Ultracol 200 is for its shape. Fine lines, crepey texture and skin that has lost its bounce point to 100. A nasolabial fold, a hollow under the cheekbone or a softening jawline point to 200. Some plans use both, in different areas, in one visit.
Ultracol vs Sculptra and Juvelook
All three are collagen stimulators, so the result builds over weeks in each case. What differs is the material, how deep it works and how long the effect is described as lasting.
| Ultracol | Sculptra | Juvelook | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Material | PDO microspheres | Poly-L-lactic acid | PLA with hyaluronic acid |
| Works in | Dermis to upper layer under the skin | Deep dermis and below | Dermis |
| Typical downtime | 1–3 days of swelling | 1–3 days of swelling | 1–2 days of small bumps |
| Described as lasting | Around 12 months | Up to around 2 years | 12–18 months |
| From (KRW) | 690,000 per vial | 750,000 per vial | 240,000 for 2cc |
Sculptra is the one to ask about when a face has lost volume across a wide area and you want the longest-lasting change; its full price ladder is in what Sculptra costs in Seoul. Juvelook is the gentler, lower-cost step for texture and early creasing, covered in Juvelook in Korea. Ultracol sits between them: it can work on skin quality with the 100 and on contour with the 200, in one product family.
If you are still deciding whether you need a stimulator at all, or a hydrating booster would do, the eight options are compared in skin boosters in Korea.
Sessions, downtime and your flight home
Expect some swelling for 1 to 3 days, with redness at the entry points and the occasional bruise. Sensation is moderate. Because the change comes from your own collagen, the face you see at the airport is not the result: it builds over the following weeks.
How many sessions you need depends on the area and the version. The manufacturer's published clinical figures were measured after three sessions and again at eight months, so a course is common. Ask at consultation how many sessions your plan assumes and how far apart, and say early if you can only come to Seoul once: a single visit can still be planned, and the plan should say what it can and cannot do.
There is no rule against flying the next day. The practical question is visible swelling, so leave two or three days before an event at home. The windows for other treatments are in flying after skin treatment in Korea.

Who should ask first, or wait
Tell us in your first message if any of these apply. Some change the plan and some mean waiting.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- An infection, inflamed acne or a wound where the injections would go.
- Filler, threads, a laser or a peel in the same area recently.
- Isotretinoin now or in recent months, or medicine that affects healing or bleeding.
- A past reaction to PDO threads or sutures, or a tendency to keloid scars.
Collagen stimulators are not dissolved the way a hyaluronic acid filler can be, which is one more reason the choice of version and depth is made carefully at the start.
Planning Ultracol in Seoul
- Before you fly. Send daylight photos of the area, any filler or threads you have had there with the dates, and your days in Seoul.
- On the day. The consultation and 3D skin scan come first. If Ultracol fits, it can usually be done straight after.
- Before you leave. You get aftercare in writing, and the date of the next session if your plan is a course.
- At home. The WhatsApp thread stays open, so questions after the trip go to the same place as the first message.
The clinic is a two-minute walk from Exit 5 of Nonhyeon Station. There is no patient parking, so come by subway or taxi. We are closed on Sundays and public holidays, and messages are answered within 24 business hours.
When your dates are set, tick Ultracol in the booking selector and send the list on WhatsApp. The Ultracol treatment page has the full facts, and the doctor's page lists the Key Doctor appointment.

Questions patients ask
How much is Ultracol in Korea?
On our list of 20 August 2026, one 4cc vial of Ultracol 100 or 200 is 690,000 KRW before 10% VAT. A treatment uses at least 2cc, and the final figure is confirmed at consultation.
What is the difference between Ultracol 100 and Ultracol 200?
Particle size. Ultracol 100 has 20 to 50 µm particles placed in the dermis for skin quality. Ultracol 200 has 50 to 110 µm particles placed by cannula under the skin for contour, such as folds and hollows.
Is Ultracol better than Sculptra?
Neither is better in general. Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid for wider volume loss and is described as lasting up to around 2 years. Ultracol is PDO and covers skin quality with the 100 and contour with the 200.
How long does Ultracol last?
The manufacturer states the particles break down within 4 to 6 months, and the collagen they prompt remains after that. Our treatment page describes the result as lasting around 12 months.
Is there downtime after Ultracol?
Swelling for 1 to 3 days is common, with some redness at the entry points and an occasional bruise. Most people return to normal plans the next day.
Can Ultracol be used under the eyes?
Its approved indication in Korea is the nasolabial folds. Whether another area such as under the eyes suits you is the doctor's judgement at consultation, after looking at the skin's thickness.
Results and recovery vary between individuals, and every treatment can have side effects. Prices are from the clinic's price list and are confirmed at consultation. This article is general information, not a diagnosis.
