Radiesse filler Korea: when should you wait? Cost, reviews, and methods

Radiesse has no dissolving enzyme the way hyaluronic acid filler does, so the first decision carries more weight. The clinic answers WhatsApp messages within 24 business hours.

Thinking about Radiesse filler Korea, but worried because it can't be dissolved if the result doesn't suit you?

Read this through before you book a flight to Seoul.

You'll know what decides the cost, which reviews are right and wrong, which methods to ask about, and when it makes sense to wait. Then you can judge whether Radiesse fits your face, your filler history and your budget.

Hello, I'm Dr. Jang Dong-hoon, Founder & Medical Director of THE Beautiful Clinic in Seoul.

At this clinic I consult, plan and treat myself, and the consultation begins with a 3D skin scan. Our menu also includes contour filler and several other collagen stimulators, so Radiesse is one option on the table among several.

I wrote this because many people choose Radiesse after seeing its tightening effect on social media, then learn its limits only once the material is in their skin.

Radiesse can be considered for adding structure and stimulating collagen in a suitable area. Wait if your skin is inflamed, you have severe allergies, you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or the old filler in that area is of an unknown type.

If old filler is what makes you hesitate, send the product name on WhatsApp if you know it and the month it was injected, then ask one thing: can that area still be considered for Radiesse?

Why Radiesse is harder to undo

Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a carrier gel. The gel gives volume first, then the microspheres prompt the skin to build collagen gradually. That's why our clinic places it in the group of Radiesse treatment for collagen regeneration, alongside skin boosters.

Hyaluronidase, the enzyme used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler, doesn't work on CaHA. Our treatment list does include a filler dissolving injection, but an enzyme like that can't be the backup plan for Radiesse. The US FDA also warns that removing filler material may require injections, surgery or other interventions, and can be difficult.

If you've had a bad experience with filler before, this difference often matters more than any brand.

As for how long it lasts, the consensus by de Almeida and colleagues (2019) notes published data of up to 18 to 24 months, influenced by age, metabolism and how much the area moves. For some people that's an advantage. For someone still unsure about a new facial shape, it's also a long time to wait. The basic explanation sits on our Radiesse treatment page.

When would I suggest waiting on Radiesse?

A search for Radiesse filler Korea usually starts with result photos. In the consulting room, the first question I think needs answering is this: what has already gone into this face, where, and when?

In general, tell your doctor and consider waiting if any of these applies to you:

  • The skin at the injection site is inflamed or infected.
  • You have a bleeding disorder.
  • You have severe allergies or a history of anaphylaxis, including a lidocaine allergy.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding, because the FDA describes safety in these situations as unknown.
  • You are taking isotretinoin or a medication that affects healing.
  • You've recently had filler, or old filler in the same area is of an unknown type.

Location can be a limit too. That 2019 consensus advises avoiding high-risk areas such as the glabella (between the brows) and the nose. Around the eyes and lips, many doctors prefer a gel that can be dissolved, because the skin is thin and the lips move constantly.

If you're also planning device lifting, tell us about fillers or threads placed in the last six months. We plan the energy around them, not over them.

Radiesse filler Korea risks to know

The common reactions are temporary: bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching or rash, which usually settle within a few days. The AAD notes that many people can return to everyday activities right after most fillers, but a bruise can still be visible when you're at the airport.

Less common are nodules, meaning bumps in or under the skin, which can appear later. Reported nodules tend to be found more often in facial areas that move a lot. Some can be managed by a doctor with injections and massage, while persistent ones need further treatment.

Rare but serious is material entering a blood vessel. The FDA says this can lead to blocked blood flow, vision problems including blindness, and stroke, and that these effects may last.

If something happens after you've flown home, do this:

  1. Sudden severe pain, pale or mottled skin, vision changes or stroke symptoms: go straight to the nearest emergency department.
  2. Fever, spreading redness or pus: see a doctor in your city promptly.
  3. A painless lump: photograph it in daylight, then have a dermatologist examine it.
  4. Show the product name, amount, area and injection date. Before you leave Seoul, make sure you have this record with you.

The US CDC also advises people traveling for care to arrange follow-up with their own doctor before they leave. Individual results and recovery differ, and every treatment carries possible side effects.

Example: your doctor at home says not to add anything yet

Say you're in your 40s and live in Surabaya. Three years ago your smile lines were filled, you don't remember the product, and your doctor has advised against adding anything for now. You have five days in Seoul.

My mind wouldn't go straight to Radiesse. I'd first want to know what's still in that tissue, because layering CaHA over an unknown material makes the cause of a later lump harder to trace. That area might make more sense handled another way, or your jaw or temple might be the better thing to discuss.

If your situation is similar, take a side photo of your face in daylight, send it on WhatsApp, then ask: what should we go over about my old filler before Radiesse?

Radiesse filler Korea methods: four things to ask

Two clinics can use the same product in different ways. Before anything is injected, we map asymmetry, hollowing and muscle pull across the whole face. After that, there are a few things worth asking any doctor, me included:

  • Diluted or not? Dilution decides the job it does. The 2019 consensus defines hyperdiluted CaHA as 1.5 mL of product with at least 1.5 mL of diluent, about 1:1 on the face and 1:2 to 1:4 on the neck and chest. The more diluted it is, the more the aim shifts toward skin quality and away from volume.
  • How deep, and in which area? Lumps form more easily when material sits too shallow or the skin is thin.
  • Needle or cannula? Each has its reasons, so ask the doctor to explain the choice for your area. The FDA states that needle-free devices are not approved for injecting filler.
  • Where does the product come from? The FDA warns against buying filler online because it could be counterfeit. It's fine to ask to see the packaging.

The alternatives have drawbacks too. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved, yet it can still cause bruising, lumps and blood vessel risks. Other collagen stimulators work more slowly, and their effect can't be stopped at once either.

Radiesse filler Korea reviews: what holds up

In reviews and forums, three claims come up most often. Some are right, and some need correcting.

  • The result shows right away and then develops. Partly true. Volume from the gel shows first while collagen builds gradually, and not everyone notices the same change.
  • Nothing to fear, it goes away by itself. Misleading. The material is absorbed slowly, but that can take many months and no enzyme speeds it up.
  • If there's a lump, the doctor must be at fault. Too simple. Technique and depth do matter, but high-movement areas and thin skin play a part as well.

When reading a review, check whether the writer gives the area, the amount of product, and how long it's been since the injection. Without those three, a single story is hard to apply to your face.

Radiesse filler Korea cost: what decides it

Our list records Radiesse in 1.5cc units, but what you pay follows the plan. These move the figure:

  • Area: jaw, temple and neck need different amounts.
  • Amount of product: how many units your face needs.
  • Dilution and goal: adding structure differs from improving skin quality.
  • Other treatments: whether lifting or a booster is in the same plan.
  • Days in Seoul and follow-up: the number of nights and check-ups with a doctor in your city.

The final price is quoted at consultation and paid at the clinic. Before that, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case, naming the area you want to discuss.

Planning your Seoul days without rushing

We're open Monday to Thursday 10:30 to 19:30, Friday until 20:30 and Saturday until 16:30. We're closed on Sundays and public holidays, and the 13:00 to 14:00 lunch break applies on weekdays. We're on the 2nd floor of the Jinryeong Building, a 2-minute walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 5. There's no patient parking, so come by subway or taxi.

Put your consultation early in the trip, because bruising and swelling are usually most noticeable in the first days. You can read more about me on the doctor page, and see the rest of what we treat on THE Beautiful Clinic's English site. Come without makeup if you can, and bring any record of your old filler if you still have one.

One photo of your face is enough to start, and you can ask before booking anything. Send your Seoul dates on WhatsApp along with the one question that's bothering you most. The clinic answers in English or Bahasa Indonesia within 24 business hours. When you come, I'll examine your skin with a 3D scan and recommend the treatment that fits, including when that isn't Radiesse.

The short version

  1. Hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler but does not dissolve Radiesse.
  2. Inflamed skin, bleeding disorders, severe allergies, pregnancy and breastfeeding are reasons to wait or discuss it first.
  3. Nodules can appear, and rare events such as a blocked blood vessel need emergency care.
  4. Cost is decided by area, amount of product, dilution and any other treatment in the plan.

Questions patients ask

Can Radiesse be dissolved if I don't like the result?

Not with hyaluronidase, the enzyme used for hyaluronic acid filler. The body absorbs the material slowly, and managing a problem depends on what the complaint is.

How long do Radiesse results usually last?

The consensus by de Almeida and colleagues (2019) notes published data of up to 18 to 24 months. Duration is influenced by age, metabolism and how often the area moves.

Can Radiesse be used for the lips or under the eyes?

Many doctors prefer a gel that can be dissolved in these areas, because the skin is thin or moves often. Discuss the alternatives at your consultation.

I just had filler elsewhere. Do I have to wait?

Tell your doctor the type, area and date. Material that is unidentified or still recent can make assessment harder, so waiting is often a sensible choice.

How many days after Radiesse can I fly?

No single number fits everyone. Many people can resume activities soon, but it helps to leave a few days so bruising and swelling can show, and to ask about your plan at consultation.

Can I ask my questions in Bahasa Indonesia?

Yes. WhatsApp messages are answered in English or Bahasa Indonesia, within 24 business hours.

Results and recovery vary between individuals, and every treatment can have side effects. Prices are from the clinic's price list and are confirmed at consultation. This article is general information, not a diagnosis.
