How long does chin filler take if you have one week in Seoul, family photos at the end of it, and a chin that has seemed to retreat over the last ten years?
Finish this before you fix your appointment date.
You'll know how long each stage runs, which review claims hold up, which methods suit a chin after 40 and what decides the cost, so you can match the plan to your calendar and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Jang Dong-hoon, Founder & Medical Director of THE Beautiful Clinic in Seoul.
I consult, plan and treat here. Before anything is injected, we map asymmetry, hollowing and muscle pull across the whole face, and consultations run in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
I wrote this because the appointment is rarely what upsets a trip. The stretch after it is, and people plan for the wrong one.
The injecting usually takes minutes and the shape shows right away. Swelling and firmness often need up to about two weeks to settle, so book it early in your stay.
Take a side photo of your face in daylight, send it on WhatsApp with your Seoul dates, and ask how early in the week you should come.
How long does chin filler take in the chair?
The needle or cannula work on a chin generally takes minutes. The rest of the appointment goes on the things that make those minutes go well: talking through your profile, photos, cleansing and any numbing. Ask at booking how much time to set aside, and leave the rest of that day loose.
Risks and side effects to know
You see a difference as soon as the product is in, because filler adds volume directly. That first look includes swelling, so it's a preview. Most hyaluronic acid products are also mixed with a local anesthetic, which is why your chin and lower lip may feel slightly odd for a little while afterward.
That helps if your days are already full of family plans.
The two weeks after: what your chin does and when
So how long does chin filler take from your calendar's point of view? These are general ranges, and yours may differ.
| When | What you may notice | What to plan |
|---|---|---|
| That evening | Swelling, tenderness, numb feeling fading | A quiet dinner, soft food if chewing feels odd |
| Days 1 to 2 | Swelling at its fullest; a bruise may appear | Skip photos, saunas and hard exercise |
| Days 3 to 7 | Swelling drops; bruises fade; chin may feel firm | Ordinary sightseeing, a little concealer if needed |
| Days 8 to 14 | Shape settles and firmness softens | Your closest look at the longer-term shape |
Fillers can bruise, and that's the mark most likely to appear in a family photo. A review on bruising after cosmetic injectables points to blood-thinning medicines and some supplements as common contributors. By your 40s, 50s or 60s, you may well take one of them. List them all when you come, and never stop a prescribed blood thinner without asking the doctor who prescribed it.
Other areas follow their own rhythm. If you're also curious about lips, how to plan lip filler around lip shape and your flight covers an area that usually swells more visibly. Larger body areas are another matter again, as what hip dip filler can and can't change shows.

Fitting chin filler into your Seoul week
Say you arrive on a Monday, a family dinner with photos falls on Saturday, and you fly home on Sunday. I would look at Monday afternoon or Tuesday for the injection. That gives you four or five days for swelling to come down before the camera, and any bruise has a chance to fade.
Now say your only opening is Friday evening, when we're open until 20:30. The chin would still be swollen at Saturday's dinner. If the photos matter more than the chin, I would move the filler to your next trip rather than chase the date.
We're on weekdays from 10:30, close for lunch from 13:00 to 14:00, finish at 16:30 on Saturdays without a lunch break, and close on Sundays and public holidays. Come by subway to Nonhyeon Station, Exit 5, a 2-minute walk, or by taxi, because there's no patient parking. How long does chin filler take out of that week? One visit, plus the days you protect afterward. More about the clinic is on THE Beautiful Clinic's English home page.
Write down your medicines and any earlier filler in your chin, send them on WhatsApp with the date of your event, and ask which morning you'd pick.
Which methods suit a chin after 40?
The Contour Filler treatment page is where this procedure sits on our menu. Most chin work today uses hyaluronic acid gel, placed to bring the chin forward or lengthen it slightly. It can also soften the crease above it.
Three things sort the options:
- Projection: a short or receding chin is what filler changes most directly.
- Skin quality: if your concern is thin, dull skin, read filler vs skin booster and which one your face needs.
- Sagging: when the lower face has dropped, lifting may answer it better. Ultherapy Prime reaches the SMAS and is listed for a cleaner jawline and less fullness under the chin, with no downtime recorded.
The product question also matters if you've had filler elsewhere, which is covered in choosing again between Korean and European filler.
Do chin filler reviews match what happens?
Public reviews and forum threads tend to repeat a few claims. Some hold up.
In and out in 20 minutes. Largely true of the injecting, less so of the whole visit, and it says nothing about the next two weeks.
It felt hard for days, so it must have gone wrong. Early firmness is common and usually softens. Hard lumps that persist, grow or hurt are different and deserve an exam.
It lasts for years. That's possible for some long-acting products, and many hyaluronic acid results fade far sooner. Ask which product you're getting and what its usual range is.
Filler moves. It can spread or shift, though much of what people call migration is placement, amount or swelling. Nobody can judge that from a photo in the first week.
What can go wrong with chin filler, and who should wait
Common reactions are swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising, usually gone in days to about two weeks. Less common are lumps, asymmetry and infection. Results and recovery differ from person to person.
The rare serious risk is filler entering a blood vessel. The US Food and Drug Administration warns this can damage skin and, rarely, cause vision problems, blindness or stroke. Severe pain, skin turning pale or dusky, vision changes or weakness call for emergency care at once, wherever you are.
As general medicine, you'd wait or skip it with:
- Infection, cold sores or inflamed skin near the area
- Recent or planned dental work, which is worth raising with your doctor first
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- A known allergy to filler ingredients or a history of severe allergic reactions
- Blood thinners or a bleeding disorder, unless the doctors involved agree on a plan
If something appears once you're home, photograph it, message the clinic and see a local doctor promptly. Keep a note of the product name, amount and date. Our menu also lists a filler dissolving injection, and doctors generally use that approach for hyaluronic acid products only, so the product name matters to whoever treats you next.
Cost of chin filler: product, amount and what else is planned
The figure for your chin comes down to a few factors:
1. 2. The amount in cc, which follows how much projection you want and how your chin is built. 3. Whether other areas join the plan. 4. Whether older filler has to be dissolved first.
Ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case, with that side photo, and ask for a range before you come.
One photo is plenty for a first message, and you can ask before booking anything. Add a line about what you'd like to change in your profile. The clinic answers in English or Bahasa Indonesia within 24 business hours. When you come, I'll examine your whole face and recommend what fits your chin and your week.
The short version
- The injecting usually takes minutes, and the new shape shows right away.
- Swelling tends to peak in the first 2 days and often settles within two weeks.
- Book early in your trip if photos or family events come at the end.
- A sagging jawline may need lifting, since filler adds projection.
- Cost moves with the product, the amount in cc and any other areas.
Questions patients ask
Will chin filler hurt?
Most people describe pressure and brief stinging. Numbing and the local anesthetic mixed into many hyaluronic acid products reduce it, and tenderness can last for a few days. How it feels differs from person to person.
When can I eat normally?
Usually that evening, once any numb feeling has worn off. Soft food can feel easier if the area around your mouth is tender. Avoid pressing or resting your chin on your hand for the first days.
How long does the result usually last?
It varies with the product and how your body breaks it down. Hyaluronic acid fillers generally last months, not years, and the product name is what lets a doctor give you a closer range.
Can I have it on the day of my consultation?
Often, yes. Injectables can usually be done straight after the consultation. If you need room for swelling before an event, it's worth choosing that day with your whole week in view.
Can chin filler be reversed if I dislike it?
Hyaluronic acid filler can generally be broken down with a dissolving injection, and our menu lists one. Other filler types may not respond, so keep a record of the product you received.
Should I tell the doctor about my dental implants?
Yes. Implants, recent dental work and planned dental appointments all affect timing and infection risk around the chin. Mention them along with any medicines you take.
Results and recovery vary between individuals, and every treatment can have side effects. Prices are from the clinic's price list and are confirmed at consultation. This article is general information, not a diagnosis.
