Putting together a Korea contour filler list for a short trip to Seoul, but worried your face will still be swollen or bruised on the flight home to Jakarta or Surabaya?

Read to the end before you book the flight and the injection slot.

When you finish, you'll know which areas are on our contour filler list and the method for choosing between them, how recovery usually runs day by day, what reviews get right and wrong about swelling, and what decides the cost. That lets you decide how many areas make sense for your days off and your budget.

Hello, I'm Dr. Jang Dong-hoon, Founder & Medical Director of THE Beautiful Clinic in Seoul. I'm a member of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Surgery and the Japan Society of Aesthetic Surgery.

At our clinic, I consult, plan and treat myself. The consultation begins with a 3D scan of your skin, not with a price list. You can reach us on WhatsApp in English or Bahasa Indonesia, and the clinic is a two minute walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 5.

I'm writing this because many people pick the number of areas first and only think about the flight date later, and with contour filler that order works better the other way round.

With most fillers you can go back to everyday activities right after the injection, but bruising and swelling can last from a few days to a few weeks. So book the injection early in your trip, and keep a few days free before the flight home.

If you're not sure which areas you need, send one front photo of your face in daylight on WhatsApp, together with your arrival date and your flight home. Ask just one thing: how many areas make sense for the number of days you'll be in Seoul.

What is on our Korea contour filler list, and the method for choosing

The contour filler list at our clinic is organised by area and by product type. People who search “korea contour filler list” usually need two answers: which areas are available, and which areas would actually change how their face looks. Our list covers:

  • General facial filler, for facial areas decided at the consultation
  • Brow bone filler
  • Ear filler
  • Under-eye filler and lip filler
  • Shoulder filler and pelvis filler, for body contour
  • Filler dissolving injection, when old filler needs to be dissolved first

For these areas there are Korean products and some imported products, such as Juvederm and Restylane. How to weigh where a product comes from, what to do if a temple looks hollow, and how many nights ear filler needs are covered in separate posts on our Indonesian blog.

The method starts before the needle. Before anything is injected, we map asymmetry, hollowing and muscle pull across the whole face. Then we treat the areas that change how the face reads, not the ones that are easiest to inject. The details are on the Contour Filler treatment page.

In general, most facial contour fillers are hyaluronic acid gels injected with a fine needle or a blunt cannula. The doctor who examines you picks the tool by the area and the depth being treated.

How does recovery go, day by day, after contour filler?

Two things make a face look freshly injected. First, the needle can hit a tiny blood vessel under the skin, and the small amount of blood that leaks out is what shows as a bruise. Second, the tissue reacts to the injection and hyaluronic acid gel draws in water, so the area swells a little in the first days.

The US FDA lists the common effects after filler: bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and rash. According to the FDA, many of them resolve within a few days to weeks. Our clinic's own FAQ page also says that thread lifting and filler can leave bruising. The pattern people often see looks roughly like this:

How does recovery go, day by day, after contour filler?
WhenWhat often happensWhat it means for your trip
Injection dayRed needle points, slight swelling, tender when pressedYou can go out for dinner, though it's usually advised not to massage the area
Days 1 to 2Swelling often feels strongest, bruises start to showThe shape in the mirror isn't the final shape yet
Days 3 to 5For many people swelling eases, bruises turn yellowishA sensible time to be seen again before flying
Week two onwardLeftover bruising usually fades, the shape settlesThe shape is judged once swelling has gone

This table shows a general pattern; your face may differ. Areas with thin skin and many blood vessels, like the lips and under the eyes, often bruise and swell more visibly than the chin or the brow bone. Body filler in the shoulders or pelvis uses a larger volume, so tenderness to the touch can be more noticeable.

A review in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology on minimising bruising after fillers discusses steps before the injection, including pausing blood thinning medicines and supplements if the prescribing doctor agrees. Don't stop a prescribed medicine on your own without asking your doctor at home first.

How many nights should you keep in Seoul?

There's no single number of nights that suits everyone, because the answer is set by the areas and how many of them there are. Here's how I think about it: the injection should happen on your first or second day in Seoul, followed by a few days before the flight. On those days you can still sightsee and shop. The difference is that you're still in the same city if there's something you want a doctor to look at.

Opening hours belong in the plan. The clinic is open Monday to Thursday from 10:30 to 19:30, Friday until 20:30, and Saturday until 16:30 with no lunch break. On weekdays there's a lunch break from 13:00 to 14:00. The clinic is closed on Sundays and public holidays. So if you're injected on Friday and fly on Monday, your last chance to drop in is Saturday afternoon.

One more thing if you want to combine filler with lifting on the same trip. Our Total Lifting page asks you to tell us about any filler or threads placed in the last six months, because the energy is planned around that filler. Lifting devices are also sequenced across one or more visits. So ask about the order early, before the ticket is bought.

Example: five days off with two areas

Say you're a young office worker in Surabaya with five days of leave. You land at Incheon on Wednesday night and fly home on Monday morning. Your Korea contour filler list has two areas on it: the chin and under the eyes.

Here's how I'd weigh it. Thursday morning, after the clinic opens at 10:30, is a sensible time for the scan, the consultation and the injection. The chin rarely worries people on the plane. Under the eyes is a different story, because the skin is thin and a bruise there shows easily. If the chin is your main goal, I'd suggest the chin first, and then reconsider the under-eye area after looking at the scan and the state of your skin. If both are still done on Thursday, you have Friday and Saturday until 16:30 to come back if something bothers you, and Sunday to rest before the flight.

What people often forget: write down the product name and the cc for each area before you go home. A doctor in Indonesia will need it if you ever have a check there.

If you've already ticked a few areas on your Korea contour filler list, send a side photo of your face in daylight on WhatsApp along with that list. Ask which area should go first so it has time to settle before you fly. If you don't know where to start, our booking page says you can simply send a photo and we will suggest the list for you. You'll find more about the clinic on the THE Beautiful Clinic home page, and the booking page lets you tick what you want looked at.

What do reviews say about swelling and bruising?

On forums and in videos, a few claims come up again and again. Some are true, some need correcting.

“Filler has no recovery time.” Partly true. The American Academy of Dermatology writes that with most fillers, people can return to everyday activities right away. What the claim leaves out is bruising and swelling that can still show in photos for several days.

“The swelling is gone by tomorrow.” For the chin or brow bone in some people, maybe. For the lips and under the eyes, swelling often lasts longer than one night.

“Filler wears off fast.” According to the FDA, how long a filler lasts is set by the filler material and the injection area. Movement plays a part too: lips that move all day behave differently from a brow bone that stays fairly still.

“Flying straight after filler is normal.” Many people do fly a few days after the injection. The issue is distance: if a sign appears that a doctor should look at, you're already far from the clinic that injected you. That's why I prefer a gap.

Risks and side effects to know

The common, temporary effects are listed above: bruising, redness, swelling, pain, itching and rash. In the first days, the gel can sometimes feel like a small lump under the skin. Many of these effects go away within a few days to a few weeks.

It's better to wait, or talk it through with a doctor first, if:

  • there is active skin inflammation or infection where you'd be injected
  • you have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinning medicine
  • you have allergies, for example to lidocaine or animal derived materials
  • you've had filler recently, are taking isotretinoin, or take medicine that affects healing; our clinic asks you to tell us about these beforehand
  • you're pregnant or breastfeeding, since many doctors prefer to postpone aesthetic treatment during this time

There are also rare but serious risks. The FDA calls unintentional injection into a blood vessel the most concerning risk, because it can cause tissue death, vision problems including blindness, and stroke. Warning signs include unusual pain, changes in vision, or skin near the injection site turning white, gray or blue. If this happens after you're back in Indonesia, go to the nearest emergency room right away.

Hyaluronic acid filler can generally be dissolved with an enzyme, and our list does include a filler dissolving injection. For your doctor at home, bring a note of the product and the amount; our Indonesian blog has a separate post on what to write down. The US CDC's medical tourism guidance also suggests carrying copies of your medical records and planning follow-up care for when you return. Results and recovery differ from person to person, and whether an area suits you is decided at the in-person examination.

What decides the cost of contour filler?

Our contour filler price list is written per area and per product. Every area you add to a Korea contour filler list adds both cost and recovery days. Your cost is built from a few things:

  1. The number of areas treated
  2. The cc needed for each area
  3. The product type, Korean or imported
  4. Whether old filler has to be dissolved first
  5. How many visits fit into your days in Seoul

The final price is set at the consultation, and payment happens at the clinic. The quickest way to get the figure for your case is to ask on WhatsApp with one photo and the list of areas you've ticked.

One photo is enough to start, and you can ask before booking anything. Send a front photo of your face on WhatsApp with one question: what would the areas on your Korea contour filler list cost for your case. Messages are answered within 24 business hours. When you come to Seoul, I examine your face with the 3D scan and recommend the areas your face and your schedule actually need.

The short version

  1. Our contour filler list is organised by area: general facial, brow bone, ear, under-eye, lip, shoulder, pelvis, plus a filler dissolving injection.
  2. Bruising and swelling are common, and many settle within a few days to a few weeks.
  3. Lips and the under-eye area often bruise more visibly than the chin or brow bone.
  4. Inject early in the trip, remember the clinic is closed on Sundays and public holidays, and note the product name before you fly home.
  5. Cost is set by the number of areas, the cc per area, the product type and whether old filler must be dissolved first.

Questions patients ask

Which methods are used for contour filler?

Most facial contour fillers are hyaluronic acid gels injected with a fine needle or a blunt cannula, chosen by area and depth. Before anything is injected, we map asymmetry, hollowing and muscle pull across the whole face.

Can I fly the day after filler?

Many people fly a few days after injection. I prefer a gap of a few days between the injection and the flight, so you are still in Seoul if a sign appears that a doctor should look at.

Can filler be dissolved if I don't like the result?

Hyaluronic acid filler can generally be dissolved with an enzyme, and our list includes a filler dissolving injection. Fillers made of other materials can't always be dissolved this way, so ask which product is being used before the injection.

Can I consult in Bahasa Indonesia?

Yes. You can reach the clinic on WhatsApp in English or Bahasa Indonesia, and consultations run in both languages. Messages are answered within 24 business hours.

Which days is the clinic closed?

The clinic is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Saturday runs until 16:30 with no lunch break, so if you fly on Monday, Saturday afternoon is your last chance to drop in.

What should I prepare before coming in?

Come with a clean face and no makeup if you can. Tell the clinic if you have had filler recently, are taking isotretinoin, or take any medicine that affects healing.

Results and recovery vary between individuals, and every treatment can have side effects. Prices are from the clinic's price list and are confirmed at consultation. This article is general information, not a diagnosis.
