Rejuran side effects cancer: is there a real link? Cost, reviews, methods
Published polynucleotide studies report mild, short-lived reactions but ran too briefly to test cancer risk. Messages to the clinic are answered within 24 business hours, so you can ask about your own history first.

Rejuran side effects cancer: is one frightening thread the reason you haven't booked those injections yet?
Read this before you pay for a flight.
You'll know what the studies cover and where they stop, what reviews get right, which methods exist and what decides the cost, so you can judge whether to go ahead, wait or skip it, for your health and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Jang Dong-hoon, Founder & Medical Director of THE Beautiful Clinic in Seoul.
I consult, plan and treat, with no counsellor selling packages. The consultation begins with a 3D scan of your skin, and the clinic answers WhatsApp messages in English within 24 business hours.
I'm writing this because online answers tend to land on "it feeds tumors" or "proven safe", and the published evidence supports neither.
I found no published study showing that Rejuran causes cancer. The studies I read were also too short to rule out a long-term effect, so active or recent cancer, or an unexamined skin spot, means asking your oncologist or dermatologist first.
If your own history is the worry, send one WhatsApp message with your diagnosis, the date treatment ended and the one question you most want answered. You can ask before booking anything.
Does Rejuran cause cancer, according to the studies?
No study I read shows that it does. None of them was designed to test it either, and you need both of those facts.
Rejuran belongs to a group called polynucleotides, or PN: purified DNA fragments, usually from salmon, injected into the skin. A systematic review in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology pooled nine PN studies covering 219 people. None reported a severe adverse event. The reactions were mostly local pain, swelling, itching, redness and bruising, typically gone within a week.
Now look at the clock. Most of those studies followed people for about 12 to 18 weeks, and the longest ran about six months. Their quality varied, and the authors ask readers to treat the results with caution. Cancers often take years to appear, so a study of that length can't settle the question in either direction.
A separate review in Pharmaceutics reports no significant safety concerns in post-marketing surveillance of PN or its cousin PDRN. That tells you what has been reported so far. It isn't a long-term cancer study, and I found no section on cancer in either review.
So on Rejuran side effects cancer questions, my position is this: I can't point to a study showing harm, and I can't tell you the long-term risk has been measured.
Why do people connect a skin booster with tumors?
Behind most Rejuran side effects cancer searches sit two separate fears. One is about foreign DNA, the other about growth signals.
The DNA fear is the weaker one. Injected fragments are generally understood to be broken down in the tissue, and nothing I read suggests they rewrite your genes.
The growth fear has more substance. The Pharmaceutics review describes PDRN as activating the adenosine A2A receptor and promoting new blood vessels through a signal called VEGF. Tumors also use VEGF to build a blood supply, which is why some cancer drugs block it.
Here is the gap. That receptor action is described for PDRN, which has shorter fragments. The review doesn't describe it for PN, and it says no standard molecular-weight line separates the two. I found no study testing whether either one affects an existing tumor. So the theory gives someone who already has cancer a reason for caution, and it gives no evidence that a booster starts cancer in a healthy person.

When I would tell you to wait or skip Rejuran
For Rejuran side effects cancer concerns, this is how I would reason through your situation. It sits alongside the wider list of who should wait for Rejuran in Korea, which covers the more everyday reasons.
| Your situation | What I would advise | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Active cancer, or in treatment | Skip it for now and ask your oncologist | Untested here, and treatment can change healing and bleeding |
| Treatment finished, or long-term hormone or targeted therapy | Get your oncologist's view before you book | No data gives a safe interval; they know your case |
| A spot that grew, bled or changed | Have it examined first | Treating over it could delay a diagnosis |
| Family history only | Mention it; ask your doctor if you carry a known gene | Nothing I read treats this alone as a barrier |
| Fish allergy, or allergy to an ingredient | Skip it until an allergist has advised you | The fragments usually come from salmon |
| Pregnancy, breastfeeding, site infection, recent laser or peel, isotretinoin | Wait | General caution; safety data are limited |
Say you're 29, teaching English in Bangkok, with three days in Seoul. Your mother had breast cancer, you never have, and your last check-up was clear. I wouldn't treat that history alone as a reason to refuse you, though I'd want you to raise it with your own doctor if genetic testing has ever come up.
Now change one detail: a brown mark on your cheek darkened this year. That mark gets examined before anything goes near it. If that takes up your trip, the booster can wait for another one.
This matters before you fly because boosters can usually be done straight after the consultation. Tell the clinic about recent fillers, isotretinoin or medication that affects healing, and settle the cancer question with your own doctor while you're still at home.
Before you pick dates, list your medicines and any cancer treatment, add a daylight photo of the spot you're unsure about, and put the question your oncologist hasn't answered yet in the same WhatsApp message.
What are the normal Rejuran side effects, and what needs a doctor?
Expect reactions at the injection points: small raised bumps, redness, swelling, tenderness and sometimes bruising. In the review above they typically resolved within a week, though your skin may take a different course. If your trip is short, read how long Rejuran healer bumps take to settle before a flight. If acne marks are your reason for treatment, see what counts as normal when Rejuran goes into scars.
These need a doctor, wherever you are by then:
- Trouble breathing, or swelling of the lips or throat: emergency care at once.
- Any change in vision after treatment near the eye: emergency care at once.
- Fever, pus, or redness that spreads and gets hotter.
- A lump that keeps growing, or one still there after several weeks.
- A new or changing spot on treated skin, which deserves a separate look.
The US CDC's medical tourism advice includes carrying copies of your records home. Keep the product name, amount and treatment date, so a doctor at home knows exactly what went in.
What reviews get right and wrong about Rejuran and cancer
Review threads usually make three claims, and each deserves a different answer.
"It's salmon DNA, so it changes your DNA." Nothing I read supports this. The real salmon question is allergy.
"It's a growth factor, so it feeds tumors." This is partly right. The blood-vessel signal is documented for PDRN, and the worry for someone with an existing tumor is reasonable, but nobody has tested it in that setting. Its reach to healthy people is speculation.
"Studies prove it's safe long term." This is wrong. The evidence covers months and small groups, and that limit applies to every clinic's Rejuran, including mine.
Which Rejuran methods exist, and do they change the risk?
The Rejuran treatment page lists what we use: standard Rejuran, Rejuran i for the eye area, Rejuran HB as the low-pain type, and Rejuran delivered with Dermashine. The Rejuran healer procedure steps show how a session runs.
The method can change comfort, bump pattern and bruising. None of the studies I read compared cancer outcomes between them, so none of these methods changes the Rejuran side effects cancer picture as far as the evidence goes. Choose between them for your area and your skin. You'll find more about the doctor and clinic on THE Beautiful Clinic's English home page.
What decides the cost of Rejuran for you
Rejuran is priced by the cc, so the figure moves with a few things:
- Which type you have: standard, the eye type or the low-pain type.
- How many cc your face or area takes.
- Whether it is delivered with Dermashine, which adds a tip fee.
- How many visits the plan runs to, and how many days you spend in Seoul.
The clinic confirms the figure at consultation, and you can ask for a range in advance. On a tight budget, get your doctor's answer before you buy a non-refundable ticket. Then ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case, with a photo.
A Rejuran side effects cancer worry is a good reason to write before you commit to anything. One daylight photo is enough for a first message, with one question: "Should someone with my history wait?" You can ask before booking anything. When you come, the consultation begins with the 3D scan, and I examine your skin and recommend what fits, which can be a smaller plan.
The short version
- No study I read shows that Rejuran causes cancer, and none was designed to test it.
- Most polynucleotide studies followed people for 12 to 18 weeks, too short to answer a cancer question.
- Active or recent cancer, or a changing skin spot, is a reason to wait for your own doctor's answer.
- Common reactions are local and typically settle within a week.
- Type, amount in cc and delivery method decide the cost, so ask for your own case.
Questions patients ask
Can Rejuran make a past cancer come back?
I found no study that tested this in people with a cancer history, so no one can give you a figure either way. Your oncologist knows your cancer type and treatment, and their answer should come first.
How long after cancer treatment can I have skin boosters?
I can't give you a set interval because I found no data that establishes one. It varies with the cancer, the treatment and any medication you still take. Ask your oncologist before you book.
Does the salmon DNA in Rejuran stay in my body?
Injected fragments are generally understood to be broken down in the tissue. Nothing I read suggests they alter your own genes. The practical salmon question is a fish allergy, which you should raise before any injection.
My mother had breast cancer. Can I still have Rejuran?
Nothing I read treats family history alone as a barrier. Mention it at the consultation, and speak to your own doctor first if you carry a known cancer gene or are under closer screening.
Can I have Rejuran on the same day as my consultation?
Often, yes. Boosters can usually be done straight after the consultation. With a cancer history, get your own doctor's view before you arrive, so the decision isn't made in a rush.
Can I get a Rejuran cost figure before I fly?
You can ask for a range on WhatsApp in advance. The clinic confirms the figure at consultation, because the type, the amount in cc and the delivery method vary from person to person.
Results and recovery vary between individuals, and every treatment can have side effects. Prices are from the clinic's price list and are confirmed at consultation. This article is general information, not a diagnosis.
